Mountlake Terrace has a familiar summer rhythm, but the 2026 version comes with two updates worth knowing before you make plans.
First, Ballinger Park is not yet open end to end. The new west-side boardwalk, wildlife viewing platform, and trail connections are still being completed. Second, the official 2026 calendar confirms the MLT Community Parade on July 17, but it does not show the full, multi-day Tour de Terrace festival residents may remember.
That changes the most useful way to think about Mountlake Terrace summer events this year. Instead of building the month around one major festival, residents can follow a sequence of smaller routines: Thursday music in two very different settings, a Friday parade through Town Center, a farmers market paired with a concert, and a Ballinger Park visit that respects the current construction boundary.
Here is the accurate map as of July 11, 2026.
The remaining July calendar at a glance
| Date | Event | Location | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thursday, July 16 | Son Los Que Son | Terrace Creek Park | 4:30–7 p.m. |
| Friday, July 17 | MLT Community Parade | 56th Avenue W | 6:45–8:30 p.m. |
| Thursday, July 23 | Jeannie Rak and Northshore Farmers Markets pop-up | Civic Campus | Market from 3:30–7:30 p.m.; music from 4:30–7 p.m. |
| Thursday, July 30 | Mister Canoe | Terrace Creek Park | 4:30–7 p.m. |
Global Heat opened the 2026 music series at the Civic Campus on July 9. The three remaining performances are part of the city’s free Terrace Summer Nights: Music series.
One concert series, two different local routines
The Thursday lineup alternates between the Civic Campus and Terrace Creek Park. The schedule may look simple, but the locations create two distinct ways to use the series.
Civic Campus: build an evening around Town Center
The July 23 concert with Jeannie Rak takes place at Jerry Smith Town Center Plaza next to City Hall, at 23204 58th Ave. W. Music runs from 4:30 to 7 p.m.
The Northshore Farmers Markets pop-up begins an hour earlier and continues until 7:30 p.m. Its vendors include locally grown produce and flowers, artisan goods, and prepared food. That overlap makes July 23 the easiest remaining concert night to turn into a longer Town Center outing.
Across from City Hall, West Plaza Marketplace gives the evening a clear local anchor. Its businesses include Double DD Meats, Diamond Knot Brewpub, Snohomish Pie Company, Alberto Jr Mexican Food, and Espresso Break. The marketplace is at 5602 232nd St. SW, close to both the concert plaza and the July 17 parade route.
Hemlock State Brewing is another nearby option at 23601 56th Ave. W., Suite 400. The brewery allows outside food, which can be useful when combining a local meal with a stop before or after the concert. Check Hemlock State Brewing’s current hours before heading over.
The practical takeaway is simple: arrive before the music starts if you want time for the market or surrounding businesses. The concert itself begins at 4:30 p.m., but the July 23 Town Center routine can begin at 3:30.
Terrace Creek Park: arrive early for the park itself
The July 16 performance by Son Los Que Son and the July 30 performance by Mister Canoe move the series east to Terrace Creek Park at 23200 48th Ave. W.
Known locally as Candy Cane Park, Terrace Creek Park covers 60 acres. It includes paved and natural trails, a playground, gazebo, picnic tables, an open field, a portable restroom, and an 18-hole disc-golf course.
That setting supports a different plan from the Civic Campus. Bring dinner, use a picnic table if one is available, or arrive early enough to walk part of the trail before the performance. The city describes the park trail as approximately one mile and partially wooded. It begins near the play area or near the southwest corner of 48th Avenue W and 221st Street SW.
Trail conditions can be muddy after wet weather, so footwear matters even in a summer concert plan. The gazebo and picnic area are available on a first-come basis.
The new Ballinger connection is still a work in progress
Ballinger Park remains one of the city’s most useful outdoor spaces, but residents should separate what is currently open from what is planned.
The 55-acre park occupies a former golf course and now includes nature trails, ponds, Hall Creek, lake access, and restored habitat. It connects with the Interurban Trail on the west and Lakeview Trail on the east.
The city’s current project is intended to make the western side more connected. Plans include:
- A wildlife viewing platform
- Boardwalks
- Paved and soft-surface pedestrian paths
- An improved entrance from the Interurban Trail
- Connections to the new bridge and Hall Creek boardwalk
Some pathways and plantings were completed during 2025. The remaining work includes the boardwalks, viewing platform, and entry portal.
As of the city’s May 19, 2026 update, the entire west side was still closed to public access while construction continued. State recreation-funding records also show that Mountlake Terrace requested a project extension through December 31, 2026, allowing time for construction, inspection, and administrative closeout.
That means the “new Ballinger Loop” should be treated as an evolving connection rather than a completed summer route. Do not plan a walk that depends on entering from the west or crossing through the active project area until the city announces an opening.
For current visits, the city directs people to park and enter near the Mickey Corso Community Clubhouse, also known as the Lake Ballinger Center, at 23000 Lakeview Drive. Check the city’s Ballinger Park Viewing Platform and Trails project page before setting out. It is the best source for an opening announcement or a change in the closure area.
This is the key planning distinction for summer 2026: Ballinger Park is available, but the new west-side connection is not yet part of the usable park map.
What “Tour de Terrace weekend” means in 2026
Longtime residents may associate Tour de Terrace with a full weekend of activity. Historical versions included a carnival, live entertainment, food booths, a pancake breakfast, street fair, vehicle show, beer garden, and Saturday fireworks.
Those details are not part of the verified 2026 schedule.
The confirmed event is the MLT Community Parade on Friday, July 17, from 6:45 to 8:30 p.m. The Mountlake Terrace Chamber of Commerce is hosting the parade.
The route begins at 234th Street SW and 56th Avenue W, then heads north on 56th Avenue. It ends at the soccer field at Evergreen Playfields. Participants stage between 234th and 235th streets, with check-in at West Plaza Marketplace.
The city’s official 2026 events calendar lists the parade but does not list a multi-day Tour de Terrace festival, carnival, car show, street fair, pancake breakfast, or Tour de Terrace fireworks display. A city parks record from 2025 also described the community parade as taking place in place of the former Tour de Terrace event.
The most accurate plan is to treat July 17 as parade night, not as the opening of a verified three-day festival. Residents who remember the older format can still recognize the continuity in the route, the local organizations, and the community gathering along 56th Avenue. The 2026 event is simply more focused.
Since the parade travels through Town Center and ends at Evergreen Playfields, expect activity around the route and give yourself extra time to get into position. The published parade information confirms the route and timing, but it does not provide a current road-closure or parking plan. Avoid relying on details from older Tour de Terrace schedules.
The summer map works best as a sequence
The strongest Mountlake Terrace plan is not a checklist. It is a progression through the city’s different gathering places.
- Start at Terrace Creek Park on July 16. Walk, picnic, and hear Son Los Que Son from 4:30 to 7 p.m.
- Shift to Town Center on July 17. Watch the MLT Community Parade move north along 56th Avenue from 6:45 to 8:30 p.m.
- Return to the Civic Campus on July 23. Pair the Northshore Farmers Markets pop-up with Jeannie Rak’s performance.
- Close the music series at Terrace Creek Park on July 30. Mister Canoe performs from 4:30 to 7 p.m.
- Keep Ballinger Park flexible. Use the currently open access and wait for a city announcement before adding the west-side connection to your walking route.
The city’s summer programming continues in August with outdoor movies at Terrace Creek Park on August 1, 8, 14, and 21. Published start times range from 8:30 to 9 p.m. Check the city calendar before leaving because evening movie timing can vary with sunset.

Local knowledge starts with the details that change
Summer events offer a useful look at how Mountlake Terrace works from week to week. Town Center supports concerts, market nights, local businesses, and the parade route. Terrace Creek Park creates space for music alongside trails and picnic areas. Ballinger Park is gaining a more connected western entrance, even if that work is not ready for an end-to-end walk yet.
